Autumn Term
We are looking forward to an exciting term here at Deakin Music. We have got lots of events planned for all of our students, so a busy term ahead!
Christmas Concert
Our Christmas Concert will take place on Friday 8th December 2023 at Holy Trinity Church Wrockwardine Wood with performances from our singing and instrumental students. Our Mini MT group will also be showcasing some of their work at this event. If anyone would like to attend this event, tickets are available on the evening. We hope to see you there!
Welcome to our new teacher!
We are delighted to welcome Tom to our team of teachers at Deakin Music. Tom has joined us to teach Woodwind lessons and has already got some wonderful Saxophone students. If you or someone you know would like to learn the Saxophone or Clarinet then please contact us via our website.
Welcome Tom!
Tom is an alumnus of the University of Kent and achieved a scholarship for music performance in clarinet and saxophone alongside studying for his degree in business. He has accumulated several years of professional-standard performances with the local Abraham Darby Showband whilst a student, the University of Kent Symphony Orchestra when living in Canterbury and as a soloist.
Most recently, Tom was asked to return to the University of Kent Symphony Orchestra to perform Shostakovich’s 9th Symphony in the Canterbury Cathedral. Other venues include the Royal Albert Hall, Birmingham Symphony Hall, Llangollen International Eisteddfod, and various Royal Colleges of Music around the UK. Tom has been fortunate enough to have met, played with, and listened to some of the best performers in the world in clarinet in saxophone. A particular highlight was meeting and being in conversation with the world-renowned saxophonist Jess Gillam MBE during a rehearsal in Canterbury with the Frisian Symphonic Wind Orchestra from the Netherlands in 2019.
Tom looks forward to welcoming new beginners and existing players to learn with him at Deakin Music.

Welcome to Lydia!
Lydia joined our Admin team here at Deakin Music earlier this year. Lydia was one of the first students we welcomed into Deakin Music when we opened in January 2020 and had been having lessons with Sam for many years prior to that. We are delighted to welcome Lydia to Deakin Music as a member of staff, she is doing a fantastic job both behind the scenes keeping the music school running and welcoming students and parents into Deakin Music.

Mini Musical Theatre
We are pleased that our Mini MT group continues this term. Mini MT is for people ages 4 - 10. Students will learn valuable skills in singing, acting and dance.
